China Everbright International has signed a concession agreement for an 800 tonne per day household waste to energy project with the People’s Government of Lankao County in Henan Province.

The Hong Kong (HKSE: 00257) based company said that it will invest in the construction of the Lankao waste to energy project, which will be constructed on a BOO (Build-Operate-Own) basis with a concession period of 30 years.

Phase I of the project is said to have a daily household waste processing capacity of 500 tonnes, with a total investment of approximately RMB280 million ($69 million). According to Everbright the gas emissions will fully comply with the Euro 2000 Standard and the plant is expected to generate approximately 52,000 MWh of green electricity annually. In addition,

The company added that it has also signed an investment cooperation framework agreement for an environmental protection industrial park with the People's Government of Lankao County.

The Group is expected to invest approximately RMB3 billion ($470 million) in the construction of a number of environmental protection projects, including the Lankao waste to energy project, as well as water restoration projects, biomass integrated utilisation projects and hazardous waste integrated treatment projects etc. over the next three to five years.

According to the developer these projects will provide one-stop comprehensive integrated services to facilitate the environmental management of Lankao County.
