Huntingdon, UK based construction & demolition waste management firm and aggregates supplier, Mick George Ltd has become the latest industry member of the Contaminated Land: Applications in Real Environments (CL:AIRE) organisation.

CL:AIRE is an independent organisation established to stimulate the regeneration of contaminated land in the UK by raising awareness of, and confidence in, practical and sustainable remediation technologies.

Mick George Ltd operates Waste Transfer stations across East Anglia and the East Midlands, providing a number of waste related services.

According to the company, in its bid to achieve zero waste to landfill status, it has recently opened a new recycling plant that incorporating modern waste sorting technologies.

CL Recognising that the industry is continuously maturing, over time CL:AIRE has diversified from initial land contamination and site characterisation techniques, to a more all encompassing examination of ‘Sustainable Land Reuse’ helping to develop more efficient regulations and code of practices within the industry.

According to Mick George Ltd. CL:AIRE acts as a credible resource hub, disseminating information and experience to improve efficiencies, raise standards and effectively develop solutions that are constantly critiqued by its members.

‘’All over the business we are seeking to improve,” explained Jon Stump, finance director at Mick George Ltd. “That means utilising internal and external resources at our disposal.”

“Affiliating ourselves with organisations such as CL:AIRE is a deliberate strategy and one we utilise regularly with other services. They possess a wealth of knowledge that will prove beneficial in enhancing our provision to the market,” he concluded.

The company currently operates a fleet of around 290 vehicles and has recently launched commercial waste service for businesses across East Anglia and the East Midlands.
