Easier to Use Site Moves from HSE to Chartered Institution of Wastes Management : CIWM Hosts New Waste Industry Safety and Health Forum Website
A new website which provides a one-stop-shop for all Waste Industry Safety and Health Forum (WISH) guidance in the UK has been launched by the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM).
The WISH forum is a multi-party group made up of organisations representing the waste and recycling industry. Members include representatives from HSE, trade associations, trade unions and government bodies.
Its aim is to provide information, identify solutions and stimulate action across the industry to ensure the health, safety and well-being of those working in the industry and those affected by its activities.
Previously hosted on the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) website, the CIWM said that the new look website hosts both formal guidance documents and other resources, including good practice case studies.
“It is right that industry health and safety guidance is available on a dedicated industry website,” explained Chris Jones, chair of WISH. “In addition to our formal health and safety guidance, it contains WISH information documents, details of our strategy and current initiatives and projects, and how to get involved with a WISH work group.”
“Waste management is a rapidly developing industry facing many health and safety challenges. The aim of the new WISH web site is to give operators easy access to the advice and guidance they need to meet these challenges,” he continued.
CIWM’s chief executive Dr Colin Church added: “As members of WISH, we are delighted to be supporting the new website.
“Health and safety is of paramount importance and the WISH Forum provides a valuable set of resources and access to ongoing work and initiatives to improve the health and safety record of this sector.”
