German manufacturer HAMMEL Recyclingtechnik has presented its RED GIANT primary shredder with a newly designed discharge conveyor at Pollutec in Lyon this week.

The type VB 950 DK RED GIANT’s new conveyor with an enormous discharge height of approx. 5000 mm, is said to give customers even more latitude for storing the material after shredding.

The new, design is just one of many modifications. The primary shredder is characterised by a hydraulic system of the latest generation, which allows a much higher nominal torque on the shafts compared to the previous machines.

Likewise, the engine speed was reduced to 1800 rpm. As a result the manufacturer said it has achieved a huge reduction in noise.

The primary shredder 950 DK also comes with the HAMMEL’s ‘easy to use control’ technology. According to the company this means that the machine is characterised by its extreme ease of use.

Parameters such as e.g. shaft speed and reversing times can be set easily and error messages are displayed in clear text.

The RED GIANT features a CAT C18 760 hp engine, enabling it to handle a variety of feedstocks including waste and fresh wood, railway sleepers, bulky, domestic and insutrial waste, and shred aluminum profiles such as car bodies, light mixed scraps and many more.

For HAMMEL, “taking part in the Pollutec exhibition was a great success” and the company offered its thanks to all visitors for the numerous constructive discussions.
