The Middle East Eye has visited the offices of Lebanese recycling firm, Cedar Environment, to produce a short film looking at how the company is helping the country to tackle its waste crises.

With mountains of waste piling up, the past months have seen attempts to export waste from Beirut to Sierra Leone abandoned following heavy criticism and delegations from the United Nations Environment Programme and Belgium to help solve the problem.

However, for Ziad Abi Chaker, CEO of Cedar Environment the crises has been a catalyst for a change in attitude from the municipalities, which the company has begun working with in a bid to recycle more waste locally.

In the video below Ziad explains some of the products being made from recycled materials, including parts of the company's own recycling centre.

Ziad also discusses how recycling has developed after the crisis and what’s in store for the future.
