ALBA Group Targets Turkish Market with Balkan Recycling Acquisition

Balkan recycling company, Reukema Balkan has been acquired by Interseroh Scrap and Metals Holding - a subsidiary of German environmental service provider and raw materials trader ALBA Group. According to Alba the purchase covers twelve scrap yards in Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Romania. The company, which will trade under the name ALBA Balkan Recycling SRL, is headquartered in Bucharest. "With this acquisition we are very pleased to strengthen our activities in South Eastern Europe, and therefore have a stronger presence in the Balkans - especially towards Turkey," explained Joachim Wagner Board member of the Steel and Metals Recycling segment of ALBA Group. ALBA added that the new company will be particularly active in the purchase of ferrous scrap metal from small to medium sized suppliers, primarily to supply Turkish steel mills. In addition to the existing ferrous metals business the company said that future trade will also be established in the Balkans for non-ferrous metals. The purchase is still subject to the approval of the relevant cartel authority.
