RWM 500 Supplied and Installed at Mellor Electrics by Riverside Waste Machinery : Specialist Automotive Gearbox Firm Saving £400 per Month Cardboard Baler

Blackburn, UK based Mellor Electrics – a specialist motor and gearbox manufacturer fort he automotive industry, has overhauled its approach to packaging recycling with the help of a mill size baler from Riverside Waste Machinery.

According to Riverside, because the quality and volume of bales it can produce, Mellor Electrics is set to achieve a return on investment in around 15 months.

With a varied and global client-base, Mellor Electrics buys in a wide range of component parts to keep diverse production. Each delivery presents multiple packaging ‘wastes’ which proved difficult to store and expensive to dispose of.

To tackle the problem managing director, Stephen Halliwell sought to invest in new waste handling technology that would address this cost whilst improving the company’s sustainability agenda.

Following some online research Halliwell got in touch with Riverside Waste Machinery. Riverside said that ist baling team then went into Mellor Electrics to conduct a waste audit which revealed that a mill size waste baler would fit the bill.

Halliwell explained: “Riverside’s managing director Jonathan Oldfield recommended the RWM 500 – a robust vertical baler that would enable us to produce both paper and cardboard bales of up to 500kg.

Following delivery and installation by riverside as well as comprehensive operator training, Halliwell said that the machine will have paid for itself in only 15 months.”

According to Riverside Mellor Electrics now benefits from a £400 net saving per month, thanks to reduced skip collection fees and the revenue stream generated from the sale of these baled recyclables.

The baler was also supplied with a full servicing contract to optimise its operational capacity long into the future.
