Waste to Energy : Vyncke - Turning Waste into Worth
With more than a century of expertise, Vyncke stands as a global leader in sustainable energy solutions. The company designs and builds industrial energy plants that transform biomass and waste into clean energy, driving a future where industries can thrive without reliance on fossil fuels.
From blacksmith to bioenergy pioneer
The story of Vyncke began in 1912, when Louis Vyncke established a blacksmith workshop in Gullegem, Belgium. At the time, the flax industry in Flanders was booming and required large amounts of steam for processing. Coal was costly, so Louis engineered boilers that could burn flax straw waste instead. This innovation marked the company’s first step into the bioenergy market, decades before sustainability became a global priority.
By 1956, under the leadership of the second generation, Michel and René Vyncke, the company moved to Harelbeke and expanded its reach across West Flanders and Northern France. The foundation built by Louis and strengthened by his sons allowed Vyncke to become a reference in the boiler business. When Michel passed away in 1972, his son Dirk took over, continuing the family tradition of innovation and growth. Under his leadership, Vyncke expanded internationally, establishing its presence in key markets across Europe and Asia, and gaining recognition as a trusted global partner in sustainable energy solutions. In 2002, the fourth generation, Peter and Dieter Vyncke, assumed leadership and brought the company to new heights.
Leading sustainable Waste-to-Energy solutions
One of Vyncke’s core missions is to give waste new life. The company develops customized energy systems that convert sorted commercial and industrial waste, as well as biomass residues, into heat, steam, thermal oil, hot gas, or electricity. These systems, ranging from 1 to 100 MWth or 1 to 20 MWe, are tailored to the unique needs of each client.
For the waste management industry, Vyncke offers a crucial bridge between environmental responsibility and operational efficiency. By turning production waste into a clean energy source, Vyncke helps companies reduce their carbon footprint and improve energy independence.
The company’s technologies not only support efficient waste recovery but also open new possibilities for energy self-sufficiency in industries such as agri-food, wood processing, and manufacturing. In a world that increasingly values circular solutions, Vyncke’s installations show that sustainability and profitability can coexist.
A global footprint with local roots
What began as a small workshop in Belgium has grown into a global enterprise with more than 4,400 installations worldwide. Vyncke maintains a strong presence in Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America, with offices in countries including Brazil, Ivory Coast, Spain, Germany, the Czech Republic, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and China.
Despite its global reach, Vyncke remains deeply rooted in its Flemish heritage. The company continues to uphold the values of craftsmanship, innovation, and respect for people and planet that have guided it for over a century.
En route to a cleaner tomorrow
Every Vyncke solution contributes to a greener, more sustainable future. Through continual innovation and a commitment to partnership, the company empowers businesses across the world to turn their waste challenges into opportunities for clean energy generation.
In the waste management sector and beyond, Vyncke’s legacy proves that sustainability is not just a goal, it is a way of doing business.
