About Alfons Grooterhorst Dr. Alfons Grooterhorst has been working as an independent consultant in the field of waste management since 1991. His expertise covers the entire spectrum of waste management activities. Over the past decades, he has worked as team leader and key expert in more than 20 countries. Alfons has specialized in the preparation of tenders, technical, institutional and cost assessments as well as the optimization of plant operation of waste management projects. Alfons studied agricultural sciences at the University of Bonn (Germany) and holds a PhD in soil science (potassium kinetics). He has published many papers on the psychological and philosophical aspects of human behavior in waste management and developed a holistic sustainability approach covering the entire material lifecycle—from extraction to disposal.
