Coastal Waste & Recycling (Coastal) is continuing to invest in expanding its recycling operations across Florida, with four Material Recovery Facility (MRF) projects either completed or in progress. Following the successful start-up of two systems in 2025, a further two systems are scheduled to begin operations in 2026. As part of these projects, Coastal selected Machinex to provide advanced, turnkey systems that align with its operational requirements for commercial, residential, single-stream, and construction and demolition (C&D) facilities. 'We are excited to open both facilities, as they are important to our long-term sustainability objectives,' said Brendon Pantano, CEO of Coastal Waste & Recycling. 'Our partnership with Machinex has been instrumental in helping us to achieve our goals.'

Advancing commercial recycling operations in Fort Myers

Commissioned in autumn 2025, the 20-tonne-per-hour Fort Myers commercial single-stream system transformed a former dump-and-bale site into a fully integrated processing facility. Designed to improve OCC quality and add flexibility to process residential and commercial materials together, the system features a Back Scraping Drum, a MACH Screw Screen™, a MACH Ballistic Separator, a MACH Eddy Current and a II Ram Baler — all of which are manufactured by Machinex. The facility now produces high-quality OCC, mixed paper, and ferrous and non-ferrous bales.

Strengthening C&D recovery capacity in Indian River

In Indian River, Coastal expanded its strong C&D presence by adding a 100-TPH system, which was commissioned in late summer 2025. The system incorporates a MACH trommel and eddy current separator to recover wood, OCC, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and aggregate and recovered screen material (RSM). Machinex engineered a compact solution capable of meeting Coastal’s high throughput demands. “Our goal is never just to deliver equipment; it’s to build long-term processing solutions that grow with our partners. Coastal’s continued confidence in Machinex across four Florida facilities speaks to the strength of the relationship and the performance of the systems,” said Rusty Angel, Machinex’s Senior Eastern Region Sales Manager.

The collaboration quickly evolved beyond the initial projects. Coastal cited Machinex’s timeliness, efficiency, and seamless project management throughout the process as key factors in expanding the relationship to include a commercial and residential single-stream facility in Pompano Beach, as well as a C&D system in Miami in 2026. Together, these four projects represent a scalable, long-term approach to processing infrastructure, strengthening Coastal’s presence in the commercial, residential single-stream, and C&D markets across Florida.
