Sirmax Group, a multinational based in Cittadella (Padua, Italy) and one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of thermoplastic compounds for all types of applications, celebrated the 20th anniversary of the start of production at its Polish site in Kutno, within the Łódź Special Economic Zone. The company marked the occasion with an event open to employees, business partners and institutional representatives.

Sirmax’s venture into Poland began in 2006 with the opening of its first production facility, marking not only the start of operations in the country but also the Group’s international expansion. Supported by total investment of over 270 million Polish zloty (approximately 70 million euros) the site has exprerienced remarkable growth over the past twenty years: the site has grown from 20 to 132 employees and from 2 to 16 production lines, transforming from the Group’s first international base into an industrial hub with an installed capacity of approximately 85,000 tonnes per year across a total area of over 100,000 square metres, 30,000 of which are covered.

The first polypropylene compounding plant, Kutno 1, was joined in 2020 by Kutno 2, which specialises in high-performance glass-fibre-reinforced materials. Investments made over the years have enabled Sirmax to expand its product range, from standard polypropylene to a multi-material portfolio.

Sustainability, innovation and resilience

In recent years, Sirmax Polska has further strengthened its position in the areas of sustainability, innovation and industrial resilience: from the development of compounds containing recycled content and low-carbon materials to the introduction of AI and simulation tools to improve design, processes and planning. At the same time, the company has managed to ensure production continuity during the Covid-19 pandemic and reinforced its supply chain in response to the challenges created by the war in Ukraine and the 2022 energy crisis.

Sirmax Polska’s journey towards growth and sustainability has also been recognised by a number of prestigious awards, including the “Green Planet” 2024 from BASF Polska, the Grohman Award, the award from the 4th Investors and Exporters Forum and the Gazzetta Italia 2025 Award. In addition, the “Great Place to Work 2025” certification confirms the company’s reputation as a reliable investor and an attractive employer for the local community.

The connection with the local area

Beyond creating jobs and generating economic value, Sirmax Polska has, over the years, built a strong relationship with the Kutno community by supporting sporting, cultural, educational and charitable initiatives. From local sponsorships to activities with schools and organisations, the Polish site promotes a model of industrial presence that is deeply rooted in the local area, focused on the community’s growth and on raising awareness of circularity and sustainability.

“Twenty years ago, Kutno marked our first step outside Italy. Today, it is one of the Group’s most important industrial hubs in Europe: a modern, efficient and constantly evolving manufacturing centre that has grown alongside our customers and the local community,” says Massimo Pavin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sirmax Group. “Choosing Poland was an act of trust: in the people, in the region and in the ability to build shared value over time. We look to the coming years with the aim of further strengthening Kutno’s role as the Group’s European platform, capable of supporting Sirmax’s international growth, accelerating innovation in materials and contributing to the transition towards increasingly sustainable industrial models.”
