AI-powered waste intelligence : NANDO raises €3.3M to transform waste measurement and operational performance

Waste management has entered a new phase: the issue is no longer whether organizations should measure waste, but how fast they can move from fragmented, manual checks to continuous, high-quality data that drives daily decisions. Across municipalities, industrial sites, corporate campuses, and food service operations, the same pain points keep surfacing. Labor costs rise, service contracts get tighter, and sustainability reporting demands evidence, not estimates. Yet waste composition and volumes are often captured with low frequency and low granularity, leaving operations teams to optimize with partial visibility.

This is exactly the gap NANDO was built to close.

On February 17th 2026, we announced the closing of a €3.3 million capital increase to accelerate the deployment of AI across the waste value chain. The round was led by MAIA Ventures (Praesidium SA), through the Maia I fund participating in the EIF InvestEU Fund program, and CDP Venture Capital SGR through the Accelerators Fund, with the participation of the Piemonte Next Fund. Existing investors including Club degli Investitori, La4G, and EMBA Capital Partners also joined the round.

NANDO AI-driven solutions that combine Computer Vision, Machine Learning, and data analytics to monitor waste continuously and translate what is traditionally “invisible” into structured, actionable insights. Our technology generates real-time data on quantities, filling levels, and composition across different waste streams, from municipal and industrial waste to food waste. This data is made visible in a unified dashboard that supports operational decisions, compliance needs, and long-term optimization strategies.

The market response confirms the urgency. NANDO has already been selected by over 80 organizations worldwide, operating across more than 17 countries, from Japan to the United States, the UAE, Europe, and the UK. Our clients include major waste producers and service providers such as ISS, Narita International Tokyo Airport, Samsic Facility Italia, A2A, IREN, Bywaters, IVECO Group, Deloitte, CBRE, Capgemini, Grosvenor Property UK, and The Howard de Walden Estate, among others. Despite the diversity of these environments, the value case is consistent: better measurement enables measurable reductions in time, cost, and environmental impact.

With this investment, we will strengthen our leadership in two areas where the need for better data is particularly acute. The first is optimizing municipal waste collection, where real-time insights can support more efficient routing, better service quality, and more precise performance tracking. The second is food waste reduction, where we have launched a dedicated business unit focused on collective canteens, supporting organizations in cutting waste with tangible operational savings and lower environmental footprint. In this field, we collaborate with international-level clients such as Dussmann.

Looking ahead, we will further expand in Europe and the UK, and accelerate our growth in the US and Asia. Funding will support team growth and new product lines dedicated to monitoring additional waste types, reinforcing our ambition: to make NANDO the single point of access for waste data, and to put reliable measurement at the core of reduction and optimization strategies.
