GREEN ENERGY EXPO & ROMENVIROTEC 2026 : Romania's largest meeting hub for sustainablity brings together industry professionals
With the opening of GREEN ENERGY EXPO & ROMENVIROTEC, the largest sustainability platform in Romania, the capital city will become a regional hub for innovation and institutional dialogue in sustainable development. The event will take place at Romexpo from 3 to 5 March 2026.
The URBAN SMART EXPO concept will also be present, offering live demonstrations and dialogue on smart cities.
This edition is of strategic importance as it marks a national premiere through cross-border collaboration with the Republic of Moldova in the fields of the environment, energy and sustainable infrastructure. It will bring together institutional and business stakeholders within the context of Moldova’s EU pre-accession process, including central and local public authorities, the business community, investors, professional associations and international experts, in a rapidly transforming regional landscape.
A significant milestone for Romania will be the introduction of The City of the Future – The Living City Experience. For the first time, green solutions will be integrated into a fully functional future city and demonstrated live within the exhibition. This unique urban demo concept will span 11,000 sqm.
Additionally, a strategic Asia–Europe axis will be established, establishing Bucharest as an international innovation hub with the presence of hundreds of global companies and national pavilions from some of the world's most dynamic markets.
A meeting place for innovation, decision-making and investment
"GREEN ENERGY EXPO & ROMENVIROTEC is more than just an exhibition platform. It has become a working instrument for companies, experts, and authorities, focusing on practical solutions and long-term partnerships. Our goal is to transform internationally validated ideas into concrete projects that are adapted to local realities, supporting the transition towards efficient, resilient and competitive communities. This approach strengthens ROMEXPO's role as a regional hub for innovation, sustainability, and international cooperation,” said Mihai Costriș, Executive Director of ROMEXPO.
'Our mission is to create a meeting point between those who develop sustainability-driven innovation and those who make implementation decisions at a community level. The 2026 edition will further strengthen regional collaboration, building on the initial steps recently taken in Chișinău through a dedicated conference. It integrates high-performance global technologies into a functional city of the future and creates a real framework for dialogue and implementation. Together with the Republic of Moldova, we are creating real opportunities for infrastructure, water, environmental and energy projects. Through the Asia–Europe strategic axis, we are connecting Bucharest to the most dynamic international markets,” stated Camelia Buda, General Manager of EUROEXPO Fairs and organiser of GREEN ENERGY EXPO & ROMENVIROTEC.
A large-scale event with strong international participation
The exhibition will showcase a wide range of green solutions and technologies, including renewable energy production and storage, waste management, water treatment, energy efficiency, digitalisation and smart public services.
Over 750 brands will be present across 48,000 sqm of space, including two exhibition halls and outdoor areas.
With 38% of participants coming from abroad, five national pavilions and hundreds of manufacturing and distribution companies from dynamic markets — including over 100 from the renewable energy sector — the 2026 edition will be a key showcase for technology and live demonstrations of smart, sustainable solutions.
The central attraction will be 'The City of the Future – The Living City Experience'. An entire pavilion will be transformed into a tangible urban circuit: a functional future city featuring real, innovative solutions for Romanian cities. This is structured around six key sectors: smart mobility, energy, water, waste, urban lighting and green spaces.
During the three-day event, 120 panels and conferences will be held across six thematic stages, addressing important issues for Romania and the region. These include EU regulations, access to funding, sustainable infrastructure, the digitalisation of public services, legislative challenges, and strategic investments in the energy, water, and waste sectors.
The three main exhibition pillars
- GREEN ENERGY EXPO will showcase technologies for renewable energy production, including solar modules, inverters, batteries, storage systems, e-mobility, and energy efficiency solutions.
