Third Arm and Other Upgrades Allow 6000 Picks p/h : ZenRobotics Launches 3rd Generaton Robotic Sorting System for Recycling
ZenRobotics, a Finnish firm specialised in the use of robotics in the recycling industry, has launched the latest upgrades to its robotic waste sorting system, ZenRobotics Recycler (ZRR).
The company said that over the past year its team has carefully to customer needs and wishes, and has now implemented many of their ideas in its updated machine.
The upgrades to the ZRR are said to improve the overall usability and flexibility of the system.
A new gripper design allows picking even heavier objects, while making the gripper easier to maintain at the same time.
Additionally, the manufacturer said that the user interface has also been improved, making robot control smoother than before.
Finally, the waste conveyor speed is no longer fixed, but said to allow adjustment to up to 1 m/s to meet customer requirements.
Previously, in 2016 ZenRobotics made the ZRR ‘trainable’. With this upgrade, the robotic recycling system has been trained to sort tens of new waste fractions at customers’ sites and ZenRobotics’ own secret laboratory.
Thanks to this, the cmompany said that the ZRR can now sort plastics by polymer (PP, PE-HD, PET, PVC), C-Wood (impregnated wood), and scrap metals by colour or shape.
The ZRR is also now available with a third robot arm. The company Finns explained that more arms equals more waste sorted, with the ZRR3 able to make up to 6000 picks per hour. That’s 50% more picks!
The first three-armed robot system is set to go into operation in Australia in January 2017.
