Aeronautic, Space & Defence Firm Safran Looks to Optimise Waste Flows : €10m Waste & Recycling Contract for SUEZ with Aeronautic Firm in France
French environmental service giant, SUEZ has signed a three year contract with aeronautic, space and defence equipment manufacturer, Safran , for waste management and wastewater treatment facility maintenance services on 23 industrial Safran sites in France.
The contract, worth almost €10 million, has an optional two year extension.
Under the terms of the deal SUEZ has been tasked with optimising and recovering waste flows and guaranteeing the continuity of service and the maintenance of the wastewater treatment facilities on the Safran sites.
SUEZ said that in an effort to respect the environment and make optimal use of resources in the development of ultrahigh-performance systems and equipment, Safran is calling on SUEZ to develop solutions that:
Optimise the waste flow management processes and increase material and energy recovery
Guarantee continuity of service by maintaining the wastewater treatment facilities on the sites
Under the terms of the contract, SUEZ agrees to define "plans for progress" that aim to optimise management costs and increase the reuse and recycling of waste, such as metal, oil, wood, cardboard, plastic, etc.
The company said that thanks to these plans, developed and implemented by a dedicated engineering office, SUEZ will contribute to reducing Safran's environmental footprint.
The plans for progress will be implemented by 20 SUEZ employees tasked with collecting, reconditioning, transporting and recovering the waste, and with pumping out and cleaning the wastewater treatment facilities on the Safran sites.
"Managing flows and reusing waste are fundamental issues for industrial manufacturers and key factors of their competitive performance,” commented declares Philippe Maillard, SUEZ's CEO of Recycling & Recovery in France.
Thierry Haud, director of purchasing at Safran added: "By building a trusting relationship in the long term, we can control and optimise our resource and waste flows to tight deadlines and in complete safety. This control is one of the keys to the performance of our processes."
SUEZ added that the new contract reinforces the partnership between the two groups, which started back in 2009 with the creation of the TARMAC AEROSAVE1 joint venture, and was consolidated in 2015, when Safran increased its stake in TARMAC AEROSAVE.
