China Everbright to Develop Shandong Laiyang Household WtE Project : 600 TPD Waste to Energy Deal for Everbright in Shandong, China

A contact to develop the 600 tonne per day Shandong Laiyang Household Waste to Energy Project in China has been secured by Hong Kong based environmental services provider, China Everbright International Limited.

The company (HKSE: 00257) said that the landed the deal thanks to a leading score in the overall bidding process, and will now develop the waste to energy plant on a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) basis for a concession period of 30 years.

According to Everbright Phase 1 of the project has a designed daily waste processing capacity of 600 tonnes, commanding a total investment of approximately RMB350 million ($53.4 million) and is being built to comply Euro 2010 Standard.

Once operational it is anticipated that the waste to energy plant will generate approximately 70,000 MHh of electricity annually.

“Laiyang Project is the Group’s 13th waste to energy project in Shandong Province,” said Chen Xiaoping, CEO of Everbright International.

Laiyang City, under the administration of Yantai City, was said to be one of the 100 most economically advanced counties in China and one of the 15 key medium-sized cities cited for development in Shandong Province.
