Alexandra Docks Energy Recovery Facility Contracts 220,000 TPA of RDF : Andusia Resource Recovery Sole Supplier for Newport Waste to Energy Plant
Waste based Fuels specialist, Andusia Resource Recovery, has been confirmed as the sole waste supplier to a new waste to energy plant currently under construction in South Wales.
Construction of the Alexandra Docks plant starts early this year and is scheduled for completion in early 2022.
Andusia will be supplying a minimum of 220,000 tonnes of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) per annum under a 25 year deal. Once operational, the plant will provide enough energy to the grid to power 50,000 homes each year.
The announcement comes at an exciting time for Andusia, with 2020 looking to be another busy year. Clinitek’s hazardous waste plant in Malvern, for which Andusia is sole supplier, will be fully operational in the next couple of months, an array of new export supply contracts commence and the Andusia team has expanded once more.
Director, Mark Terrell, comments, “We are delighted to have signed such an extensive sole waste supplier contract in the UK. Andusia are committed to supporting new UK infrastructure and will continue to work with both investors and developers to bridge the gap between waste suppliers and plants”.
Fuel supply risk can lead developers to struggle to get the third-party financing they need to build a new plant. Andusia said that as an experienced aggregator, it is able to pull waste from a number of different sources, spreading risk of supply and guaranteeing best value. Enabling developers to obtain the 10-year plus fixed price supply contract that is often required to gain investment.
