Biogas contract in Germany helps Hitachi Zosen Inova spread roots into biological waste to energy after acquisitions
Just weeks after acquiring Mt-BioMethan, Hitachi Zosen Inova has secured a contract to construct a new biogas upgrading plant in Wittenburg, Germany. Munich-based Landwärme GmbH and HZI BioMethan have signed a deal with the rebranded Hitachi Zosen Inova BioMethan GmbH (HZI BioMethan). The project comprises a plant with capacity to upgrade 700 Nm3/h of raw biogas, delivering around 350 Nm3/h of biomethane that can be fed into the local gas grid. At the end of last year Hitachi Zosen Inova also acquired the Kompogas technology from Axpo Kompogas Engineering (read WMW story). Production will begin shortly at HZI BioMethan’s base in Zeven (Lower Saxony). Commissioning is planned for the end of 2015. A statement from the company said that membrane separation would be “ideally suited in this instance and achieves methane purity of up to 98%”.
