Bollegraaf Installs 50 TPH Recycling Facility in Toronto

Dutch recycling equipment manufacturer, Bollegraaf has installed a 50 tonne per hour single stream Material Recycling Facility (MRF) for Toronto based recycling company, Canada Fibers. The company said that together with its U.S. and Canadian dealer organisation, VanDyk Recycling, it has engineered the 4800 square metre facility with a focus on high separation degree and output purity. Bollegraaf added the facility took a total of twelve months to design, build, install and commission, and that Canada Fibers expects to have a return on its investment in less than five years. The facility is equipped with Bollegraaf’s StarScreen technology for the first two stages of the sorting process, which the company said provides the best results when it comes to separation quality combined with a high volume of material throughput. Equipment The company said that the plant also comprises double input lines, multiple StarScreens and a three-stage quality control process for all recyclables. According to the equipment supplier, it has never combined as many specialist pieces of equipment into a single facility, with optical sorting units for all kinds of different waste streams, a PaperMagnet, various metal separators, and a Glass Breaker. Bollegraaf explained that recirculation loops keep feeding residues back into the system, including the waste at the very end, resulting in the highest possible purity of all recyclables. For example, before glass is tipped into the bunker, air separators suck the last scraps of paper from the stream. At the end of the line two HBC Balers compact all recyclables into homogeneous bales. Bollegraaf said that its baling technology with the pre-press flap was developed to combine high productivity with the highest possible bale weight, allowing containers to be loaded to the maximum allowable weight and keeping transport costs to a minimum. The facility will process OCC, ONP, mixed paper, Fe, Al, UBC, PET, PET Clamshell, HDPE clear, HDPE Natural, Aseptic and Plastic 3 - 7.
