Boughton Hooklift Trucks & Trailers for Norfolk Household Recycling Centres

Waste and recycling firm, Norfolk Environmental Waste Services (NEWS) a subsidiary of Norwich based facilities management company, Norse Commercial Services has taken delivery of six Boughton hook-loader equipped Volvo FM 8 wheel trucks. Boughton Engineering, formerly known as Reynolds Boughton and latterly collectively as the Boughton Group, designs and manufacturers hook-loaders, skip-loaders, close-coupled trailers and bulk waste semi-trailers. The new Volvo FM chassis are rated for operation at 32 tonnes GVW and 44-tonnes GTW. Power comes from the 420 hp version of Volvo’s 13-litre Euro V SCR 6-cylinder engine, driven through the I-Shift fully automatic gearbox, with a fitted gearbox mounted PTO. The Wolverhampton based manufacturer explained that its latest delivery of trucks will be used by NEWS in the servicing of 19 Household Waste Recycling Centres within Norfolk under contract with Norfolk County Council. The recycling firm has also purchased two Boughton close coupled trailers to improve the efficiency of its fleet within operating within its contract with the council, which commenced on 1 April this year. Boughton explained that the hook loader systems all feature its patented Kwikcova automatic container sheeting system, rear combi-locks, rear axle stabilisers – and VBG couplings. The Boughton tri-axle close coupled trailers feature a retractable drawbar and hydraulic legs and locks. The manufacturer added that the Norse fleet already includes other Boughton equipped vehicles, some of which have been in service for over twelve years.
