350 TPD Expansion Completed Two Months Ahead of Schedule : China Everbright Completes Phase II of the Sanya Waste to Energy Project

Construction work on Phase II of China Everbright International Limited’s Sanya waste to energy project in Hainan Province has been completed, bringing the total capacity for the plant to the 1050 tonne per day.

The Hong Kong based environmental services firm (HKSE: 00257) said that the new waste to energy plant represents an investment of RMB591 million ($90 million) will comply with the Euro 2010 Standard for gas emissions. It is expected to generate over 120,000 MWh of electricity annually.

Phase I of the Sanya waste to energy project commenced operation in December 2014, with a daily household waste processing capacity of 700 tonnes. Phase II, with an additional processing capacity of 350 tonnes of household waste, started operations seven months after work started on its construction in October 2015.

"Sanya Project Phase II marks Everbright International's 23rd operating waste to energy project,” commented Chen Xiaoping, CEO of Everbright International.

The company’s CEO also noted that the project was finished two months ahead of schedule.
