CHP Gets Green Light at Veolia's Solvent Recovery Facility

align="right" hspace="4" vspace="1">02 March 2012 Veolia Environmental Services has been granted planning permission to install a combined heat and power (CHP) plant at its solvent recovery facility at the Weaver Industrial Estate in Garston. According to the company Liverpool City Council Planning Committee has given the green light to proposed £3.5 million plant, which will significantly reduce the facility's carbon footprint. Based within its existing Garston facility, the company said that the new CHP plant will fully utilise the heat generated from the solvent recycling process to reduce gas fuel consumption at the site by over 90% and provide a significant increase in the recovery of waste solvents. Veolia said that its Garston facility provides an important service to national and regional pharmaceutical and industrial customers by recovering waste solvents collected from production processes by using distillation methods and returns high quality products back to the market. The company added that the development will create short-term construction jobs as well as a further two permanent skilled operational positions at the site.
