Covanta Takes the Reigns at 75 MW Pinellas Waste to Energy Plant in Florida

New Jersey based waste to energy firm, Covanta (NYSE: CVA), has assumed operations of the Pinellas County Resource Recovery Facility located in St. Petersburg, Florida. The company explained that it was selected to operate the facility for a 10 year term after a competitive procurement process and it has now also commenced a number of capital projects to improve operations of the facility. As the Martin GmbH Technology licensee for North America, Covanta said that it has a 30 year history of designing, constructing, operating and maintaining waste to energy facilities using the Martin technology employed at the Pinellas facility. The company added that Martin technology is also used in 23 of its 42 waste to energy facilities in North America and that 22 of those plants have been transitioned to its portfolio from other companies.
