DS Recycling Awards Waste Management Software Support Contract
UK based DS Recycling has awarded a three year contract to I.T. services company Maxima, to support the operation of its chosen specialist Microsoft Dynamics NAV-based ERP solution for the recycling and waste management industry. DS Recycling (formerly known as Severnside Recycling) claims to be the largest fibre recycler in the UK, collecting around 1.9 million tonnes of material for recycling annually. In addition to this, the company recovers around 250,000 tonnes of additional waste that would otherwise have ended up in landfill. Under the agreement, Maxima's Unified Infrastructure operation will supply and manage the core IT infrastructure needed to support DS Smith Recycling's advanced Enwis ERP software solution developed by Qurius. Based on Microsoft Dynamics NAV, and built by Qurius, Maxima says that the system is a specialist software solution for the recycling and waste management sector. Enwis features a complete ERP software solution, addressing key requirements including accounts, sales, purchases, contract management, waste tracking and analysis, fleet management, equipment hire and human resource management within a single integrated enterprise solution. Maxima's Unified Infrastructure business unit offers customers a complete portfolio of outsourced IT services, operating as a single managed services and infrastructure practice, and providing specific expertise in key areas such as IT managed services, hosting, Citrix virtualisation, network and connectivity services. The IT infrastructure will be based on IBM's latest BladeCenter HX5 scalable high-performance blade servers and Storwize V7000 storage virtualisation platform, and implemented at DS Smith Recycling's Castlegate HQ site in Caerphilly, Wales. The IT platform will link via a high-speed data circuit to a Maxima Datacentre to provide a disaster recovery support service. "Our Enwis integrated ERP solution supports all our key processes, and is an essential platform for driving our business forward," commented Peter McGuiness, Managing Director of DS Smith Recycling. "Engaging with Maxima provides us with a resilient, agile and fully virtualised IBM-based IT infrastructure that can grow alongside our business, leaving us free to focus on our core activities of delivering innovative recycling services and high end customer care to our customers," he added.
