1050 TPA Facility to Process Household Waste : Everbright Secures BOO Contract for Waste to Energy Project in Henan, China
A concession agreement for a 1050 tonne per day waste to energy project in the Henan Province of China has been awarded to China Everbright International Limited (HKSE: 00257).
The company explained that Taikang County is located in the southeast of Henan Province with 23 villages and towns under its jurisdiction. Landfill has been the most common method of waste treatment in the area.
However, with the development of its economy and improvement of living standards, the county is said to have seen increasing amounts of waste generated, and a greater demand for waste management and environmental protection.
Everbirght added that following the award from the People's Government of Taikang County, it will now invest in the construction of its third waste to energy in Henan Province.
The Taikang waste to energy project will be constructed on a BOO (Build-Operate-Own) basis for 30 years.
Once fully operational that project will process around 1050 tonnes per day of household waste, but will be constructed in two phases. Phase I is expected to have a daily household waste processing capacity of 700 tonnes and will generate approximately 85,890 MWh of electricity annually.

Everbright said that the first phase of the project represents an investment of around RMB400 million ($60 million) and that its gas emissions will fully comply with the Euro 2010 Standard.
