Finning Acquires Exclusive UK Dealership Rights for Komptech Equipment
05 October 2012 Finning (UK) - a division of Finning International, one of the world's largest Caterpillar dealers - has acquired the exclusive UK dealership rights to sell and service the full range of Komptech products, including shredding, separation and composting equipment. In addition, the company said that with effect from January 1st 2013, it will also become the exclusive dealer of Komptech products for Ireland. The UK Government has set increasingly demanding targets of 75% of all inert waste and 60% of all commercial and industrial waste to be recycled or reused by 2020. The Komptech range of equipment is utilised by the waste and recycling sector and includes shredders, separation and composting machinery. According to the Cat dealer - headquartered in Cannock, Staffordshire - this deal represents a major move for it in a market sector which is experiencing exponential growth. Commenting on the acquisition, Greg Mulhearn, waste and recycling business manager for Finning, said: "This deal is a huge game changer for the industry. The acquisition of the Komptech UK business aligns the ambition of Finning with an industry that shares our appetite for growth and is in line with the Finning vision to offer equipment solutions to the key sectors in which we operate. The company claimed that the combined Finning and Komptech product range will be the most comprehensive and diverse offering from a single distributor in the industry, and will provide customers with an end to end equipment and support proposition. "It is a natural fit to our business and allows us to deliver a truly end-to-end waste and recycling solution to new and existing customers. The fact that the Komptech product line up also uses Caterpillar engines means our service engineering team are already familiar with the heart of the product," added Mulhearn. The dealer added that existing Komptech UK customers will in future be supported by the full Finning branch network, including the largest fleet of mobile engineers in the industry. As part of the acquisition, all Komptech UK employees have joined Finning, with former Komptech UK managing director, Paul Carley becoming the newly appointed Finning business unit manager. Finning said that from 3rd October 2012 it will offer the full Komptech equipment range, which will now be sold with dedicated Finning service and support packages.
