Outotec to Build & Operate Two 10 MA Waste to Energy Plants : Finnish Firm Lands Waste Gasification Contracts in UK
Espoo, Finland based mineral and metal processing specialist, Outotec, has been awarded two contracts to build, operate and maintain two waste to energy gasification plants with in the UK
According to the company the contacts are worth approximately 43 million Euros and brings to seven its total number of waste to energy or renewable energy plant orders in the UK.
Outotec said that the scope of delivery for both plants covers the license for its fluidised bed advanced staged gasification technology, engineering and delivery of the main process equipment for the 10 MW (net) plants, as well as advisory services for installation, commissioning and start-up.
Once fully operational in 2017, both plants are expected to process around 80,000 tonnes of processed waste wood and/or Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) per year.
The company said that it will also provides comprehensive operation and maintenance services for both plants. After two years' preliminary work including the design process, Outotec's personnel will operate the plants for ten years.
"Besides delivering sustainable technology we provide long-term care of the plant, so that the customers will get the best return on their investments", commented Robin Lindahl, President of Metals, Energy & Water business area at Outotec.
The company did not name the facilities involved, but is also believed to be involved with a €35m subcontract to supply equipment to the Energy Works Hull waste to energy facility.
