High Resolution NIR Sorting System for Multiple Waste Streams from MSS

09 August 2012 Nashville, Tennessee based optical sorting equipment manufacturer for the recycling industry, MSS has launched a new high-resolution near-infrared (NIR), colour and metal sorting system for a wide range of recycling facility applications. According to the company the CIRRUS is its latest generation of NIR equipment, and provides opportunities for automated separation from single stream construction and demolition (C&D) material recycling facilities (MRFs), in addition to at plastics, paper, and electronic scrap recycling plants. Furthermore, the company said that the CIRRUS system can be easily configured by the operator via a touch screen interface and is offered in various sizes between 1200mm (48") and 2400mm (96"). The exact sensor configuration is tailored to the specific processing application. For example, MSS explained that an all-metal detector for ferrous, non-ferrous and stainless steel can be added, as well as for wood, for further sorting applications. The manufacturer added that the system will be offered in conveyor and slide configuration. "We will be able to apply it to new sorting applications where optical sorting has not yet been used," explained Greg Thibado, MSS general manager. MSS is a division of the CP Group, which designs and manufactures material recovery facilities and recycling equipment for single stream recycling, construction and demolition waste, commercial and industrial waste, waste to energy, municipal solid waste and e-waste.
