ReCommunity Opens 25 TPH Recycling Facility in Tucson, Arizona

27 September 2012 Charlotte, North Carolina based recycling and recovery company, ReCommunity has officially opened its new single-stream recycling operation in Tuscan, Arizona. According to the company the new facility offers a more efficient, effective recycling program, allowing residents to use a single recycling collection bin, while also providing processing services to more residents, generating more recyclables, and leading to less landfilled material. Following the $7 million investment in the new processing facility, ReCommunity began serving the City of Tucson in July. At full capacity, the company said that the fully automated facility will create more than 80 green jobs in Tucson and accepts a wider array of plastic containers numbered one to seven. In addition to paper fibres, aluminum, glass and ferrous containers, the company said that Tucson residents can now discard these recyclable plastics in a single kerbside recycling bin, which makes it easier and more likely recyclables are captured. Prior to its program, ReCommunity said that residents could only recycle plastic bottles and jugs numbered one and two. The recycling company added that it will also create a recycling education centre at the facility for community tours and school groups. Furthermore, the company claimed that at full capacity, the ReCommunity Tucson facility will prevent more than 232,165 metric tonnes of CO2 equivalent greenhouse gases from being emitted annually - equivalent to taking about 42,523 cars off the road each year. The technology installed at the plant was supplied by recycling equipment manufacturer, the CP Group.
