Republic Services Acquires Oilfield Waste Treatment Specialist, Tervita
Phoenix, Arizona based waste management and recycling firm, Republic Services (NYSE:RSG), has completed its acquisition of Tervita, LLC, an environmental waste solutions provider serving oil and natural gas producers in the U.S. Republic Services explained that Tervita's assets complement its existing Exploration and Production (E&P) waste business, and will enable it to provide customers with vertically integrated oilfield waste services across a geographic footprint spanning some of the most attractive domestic basins, including the Permian, Eagle Ford and Bakken. Tervita operates a network of centrifuges as part of a processing component in its facilities to separate the oilfield waste products into three streams: hydrocarbons, wastewater and solids. According to Tervita, from contaminated drilling muds and completion fluids to tank-bottom sludge, its Treatment, Recovery and Disposal (TRD) facilities treat (pictured), recover and dispose of all upstream petroleum waste in the most cost-effective, environmentally responsible manner possible. "We are pleased that we were able to quickly close this transaction and believe this acquisition establishes a significant platform for us to expand into the E&P sector," commented Brian Bales, executive vice president, Business Development for Republic Services. "We look forward to serving our new customers, as well as expanding our product portfolio to our existing E&P customer base," he added.
