UK Branch for Solar Panel Recycling Scheme PV Cycle
European take back and recycling scheme for solar PV modules, PV Cycle has opened a country representation in the UK. The organisation said that the new UK branch will enable it to better serve UK-based PV value chain actors in their new waste treatment obligations and will play a pivotal role in contributing to the current WEEE transposition process at national level. The take-back scheme added that it will continue to serve UK PV companies via its existing B2B infrastructure, which consists of a network of fixed collection points and a direct pick-up service. In addition, the office is intended to ensure the legal compliance of UK Producers, as well as support distributors, wholesalers, retailers and any other value chain actors that do not fall under the WEEE Producer definition. The UK subsidiary adds to a broader regionalisation program that PV Cycle began last year with the creation of its first national office in Italy. The organisation explained that it started out as a centralised, pan-European take-back and recycling solution with the aim of enabling its members to execute their commitment to extended producer responsibility, and that today it represents approximately 90% of the European PV market. “We are now building upon our ability to offer attractive WEEE-compliance solutions to our existing members and to UK PV companies and module owners”, commented Jan Clyncke, managing Director at PV Cycle.
