L-VIS Optical Sorter Upgraded with ColorMask and WireHawk Technologies : Updates for MSS Optical Sorters Benefit E-Waste Recyclers
Recycling equipment manufacturer, CP Group’s optical sorting division, Nashville, Tennessee based MSS, has updated its range with two technology updates for its L-VIS® high-resolution color and shape optical sorter.
ColorMask™ is the MMS’s proprietary illuminated reference technology and is featured in all L-VIS® units. The update is said to offer improved sorting accuracy for materials with difficult colors and weak contrast, like dark green circuit boards and black insulated wires.
The company explained that L-VIS analyses materials in flight over the ColorMask illuminated reference which is adjustable in color and light intensity for maximum contrast and accuracy.
“The L-VIS® continues to handle increasingly challenging materials,” said Felix Hottenstein, MSS sales director. “The improved ColorMask technology now allows our customers to utilise L-VIS® in even more sorting applications.”
MSS adde that it has also updated WireHawk™, the software algorithm behind its patented wire shape identification technology specifically designed for electronic and automotive scrap applications.
WireHawk recognition for L-VIS is said to provide customers with increased recovery rates for even the smallest and thinnest wires, resulting in higher returns for high-value commodities.
The company added that as with all of its optical sorters, additional identification capabilities can be added with its latest version of its induction sensor, the MetalSort™ II.
Further fine-tuned sorting of ferrous, non-ferrous, and stainless steel is said to bemade possible in combination with the color and shape sorting capabilities of the L-VIS.
Greg Thibado, MSS vice president said that he expects “our customers to see an uptick in paybacks on the equipment”.
