8yr Waste Management Contract Could be Extended to 16 : Veolia Secures £338m Camden Waste & Recycling Contract
French environmental services firm, Veolia, has secured a contract with the London Borough of Camden to manage a range of environmental services in the borough for the next eight years.
The company said that eight year contract has a possible eight year extension and is worth an estimated £338 million.
Starting in April 2017, Veolia said that the focus of the contract will be on maintaining high service standards and delivering solutions to increase efficiency, provide effective management of resources and continually improve services.
Under the new contract the company will continue to deliver Camden’s recycling, waste collection and street cleansing services as well as commercial waste collections and winter maintenance, extending a relationship which goes back to 2003. In addition, Veolia will be responsible for new services including public engagement, customer service and marketing commercial waste services.
“The Environment Services contract that we have agreed will maximise up to date technology so that the service becomes both more efficient and responsive, in order to meet the needs of the council, and its residents and businesses,” commented councillor Meric Apak, Camden Council’s Cabinet member for sustainability and Environment:
Estelle Brachlianoff, senior executive vice president, Veolia UK and Ireland added: “As Business in the Community’s Responsible Business of the Year 2016 we will support a more sustainable future for everyone in the years ahead.”
