WEEE recycling centre opens in Sydney

The Villawood area of Sydney saw the southern hemisphere's largest e-waste recycling centre open recently. The new plant, owned and operated by the Sims Group will be ale to process 20,000 tonnes of e-waste per year. This will be a welcome development as Australia's government has refused to commit to a mandatory policy for WEEE. Sims estimates that the amount of e-waste in Australia is growing three to five times faster than other waste streams and oly 4% is currently being recycled.
