WEEE recycling/reuse contract signed in South Wales
The South Wales Waste Management Group (SWWMG) has awarded European Recycling Platform (ERP) UK a three-year contract. ERP will act as the producer compliance scheme (PCS) to the nine local authorities that comprise the South Wales Regional Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Contract. The contract will run from 1st April 2015 with the possibility to extend for a further two years. ERP UK has previously worked over the past five years as the PCS for the previous regional group contract to six of the authorities. Lead procuring authority Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council (RCTCBC) signed off the award of contract in February 2015 on behalf of the other eight local authorities in this agreement: Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council, Caerphilly County Borough Council, Cardiff Council, Carmarthenshire County Council, Ceredigion County Council, Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council, Newport City Council and Powys Council. As part of its responsibilities, Resource Efficiency Wales (REW) will provide on-going technical support to member authorities on the procurement of new regional contracts.
