ZenRobotics to Install Robotic C&D Waste Sorting System in Finland
Finnish recycling company, Lassila & Tikanoja (L&T) is to install a ZenRobotics robotic sorting system at its flagship recycling facility in Kerava, 30 km from Helsinki. According to the manufacturer the ZenRobotics Recycler (ZRR) is a robotic recycling system which picks raw materials from construction and demolition waste. The company said that the technology allows the both recovery more saleable raw materials, and reduced disposal fees, and will be installed in the existing construction and demolition waste sorting process of the Kerava facility. “The ZenRobotics Recycler installation will increase the recycling rate of the mixed construction and demolition waste, and the amount of material that needs to be landfilled is reduced," commented L&T’s vice president of environmental sales, Petri Salermo. According to Salermo even before the introduction of the ZRR, the materials recycling rate the Kerava facility approaches 90%. “Further, moving from manual waste sorting to a robotic process improves the occupational safety and the overall working conditions at our facility”, continues Salermo," he added. ZenRobotics said that the uptake of its robotic sorting technology by a major Scandinavian recycling company would act as a strong reference point for the ZRR.
