70 Year Old Holden Environmental Taken Over : Scottish Waste & Recycling Firm Binn Group Expands with Acquisition
Scottish waste and recycling firm Binn Group has acquired the business of long-established Perth firm Holden Environmental Ltd.
The deal will see Holden’s Shore Road site and operations taken over by the Glenfarg based Binn Group. The site will continue to operate guaranteeing the jobs of all 10 employees.
Holden’s have operated from the Perth site for over 70 years, developing the original scrap business into a skip hire, waste management and recycling company.
“After careful consideration it was determined that the long term success of the business was best secured by selling to the Binn Group who have undertaken to continue the first-class service that our loyal customers have come to expect over the years,” commented Holden Environmental’s managing director, Robert Holden.
“We have worked closely with Binn’s senior management team to ensure a smooth handover of operations for our employees, customers and suppliers,” he added.
Binn Group chief executive, Allan MacGregor, said the deal represented a new phase in the company’s growth plans and would meet its aspirations for a high-profile Perth satellite base.
“Binn Group has a long term plan to expand into urban satellite sites in key locations throughout Scotland,” said Mr MacGregor. “Buying over Holden’s well-established business within Perth fulfills the first phase of that ambition.
Binn Group was originally established over 20 years ago by father and son John and Allan MacGregor as a land diversification project on their estate at Binn Farm.
The company said that rapid growth has seen it expand and evolve beyond the original landfill site provision and skip hire business to create Scotland’s largest and most diverse independent waste management operation, employing over 100 people.
Assurances were given that all Holden employees would be absorbed into the Binn Group workforce, with operations continuing and developing at the Shore Road site.
