1000 TPD waste to Energy Plant and 40 TPD Biogas Plant on Cards : Indore Municipal Corporation Seeks to Build 11.5 MW Waste to Energy Plant
In India Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) is making preparations to build AN 11.5 MW waste to energy plant, according to a report by the Times of India.
IMC commissioner Manish Singh was reported to have said that the central government will provide Rs 240 million ($3.6 million) to municipal bodies, with population over 1 million, for establishing waste to energy plants in their cities.
According to the report, Singh said: "We will soon float tenders for the project and required subsidies would be provided to contractors. The government has notified that the tariff for 2015-16 is fixed at Rs 7.04 per unit of electricity produced by municipal solid waste based waste to energy plants."
The electricity produced by the planned facility would be purchased buy utility discoms.
Commissioner Rohan Saxena was reported to have said that the plant would treat a total of 1000 tonnes of waste per day.

The IMC was also said to be readying to float tenders for a 40 tonne biogas plant, which will be set-up in Choithram vegetable market.
"We will bottle-up the methane gas like LPG cylinders, and we would sell it in the market," IMC consultant for the project, Asad Warsi, was reported to have said.
The project is expected to be implemented in the next two years.
