Europe’s demand for wood in construction and manufacturing is steadily increasing. Alas, the supply is not. Additionally, waste wood tends to end up in landfill rather than in a recycling plant. Wood2Wood, a new EU project, wants to address this problem. Waste Management World talked with project coordinator Dr Angelos Amditis about the state of wood recycling in Europe, the challenges of wood recycling and the goals of the project.
