Smartphones in the sun: Danger of overheated batteries

Smartphones, tablets and laptops contain lithium-ion batteries. They contain liquid electrolytes that trigger chemical reactions when heated. The Association of Austrian Waste Management Companies (VOEB) urges caution and reminds people to protect their mobile phones from prolonged exposure to heat and damage - and above all to dispose of them properly at the end of their life.
